The majority of today's jobs require STEM skills. The fastest growing jobs require STEM skills. STEM skills go beyond the disciplines of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. STEM skills include interdisciplinary, collaborative problem-solving. They help prepare all students for academic and career success.

Yet businesses point to a shortage of talent with STEM competencies. Institutions of higher education must routinely remediate students in STEM disciplines. Students' performance on math and science testing drops from the 4th grade to the 8th to the 12th. The pipeline is leaking badly.
